Powassan is a picturesque municipality in Ontario, Canada, situated approximately 30 kilometers south of North Bay. The name “Powassan” is derived from an Indigenous term meaning “bend,” referencing the nearby South River’s curvature.

Covering an area of 223.26 square kilometers, Powassan had a population of 3,345 as of the 2021 Census, resulting in a population density of about 15 people per square kilometer. The average age of residents is 46.8 years, with males comprising 49.5% and females 50.5% of the population.
